Before
I do believe that I have been negligent in writing as regularly as I had promised to do. It is not because I am too busy. In fact, I feel as though I have not accomplished very much at all in the past few months. I am starting to fall asleep around 9:30pm now and have been sleeping until 7:30am, and it feels like it is even stretching out more than that sometimes. I spend a lot of my waking time reading articles and news on the computer. I still haven't joined the gym. I did call one though. That really doesn't count , does it? Gido has ripped out the two-person jacuzzi tub from our ensuite. He posted it online and sold it within minutes. The new owner has paid for it already and will be arranging to have it picked up before Saturday. We are in the process of finding its new replacement. We are both more shower people than tub people. I am looking forward to the finished product. I just want it to look like it is the original and not a reno. It would be easier if the fixtures were white, or bone, however, they appear to be a light silvery grey. I think they may be called Sterling Silver because they are made by Crane and that seems to be the closest fit. We'll see. I think that I am going to get some paint chips and see if I can match it that way. The best advice I have ever heard about picking colored bathroom fixtures is that "they can be any color you want, as long as they are white!"

Overnight Layered Green Salad
1 medium size head iceberg lettuce
1/2 c thinly sliced green onion
1 c thinly sliced celery
8 oz can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
2 c frozen peas
2 c mayo (or salad dressing)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 c grated cheese (I like cheddar, or marble)
1 lb. bacon cooked crisp (easiest to do on cookie sheet in oven)
6 hard-cooked boiled eggs sliced with egg slicer
2 tomatoes chopped up, or thin wedges
Layer lettuce, celery, onion, peas, water chestnuts, etc. in bowl, saving a small amount of bacon and cheese. Mix sugar, mayo and a little vinegar together and cover salad. Garnish with a little of the cheese and bacon. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Ages well and is a great meal alone.

Thursday
Well, I managed to accomplish almost everything on my list of things to do the other day. Everything except finish shopping and dusting. I think that we will buy the turkey today, and maybe go to the Ukrainian co-op to see if they have borscht and perogies. Got to have the real stuff on Christmas Eve. It is going to be a busy day.

Wednesday
Christmas is just days away and I am not ready. I have a few gifts to wrap and a couple to get. The house is shaping up. We still have to hang the curtains in the spare room and order blinds for the master. We are getting used to the change in climate. There is a lot of shoveling to do, but not enough at one time to drag out the snow blower yet. Tomorrow we go to the cancer clinic here for Gido's initial appointment. I expect that they will just want to go over a schedule for the next few psa blood tests, but we'll see what they say tomorrow. Today I plan to take Max for a little walk, do the laundry and get those gifts wrapped! Ciao for now.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...
I've always wanted a Christmas tree in the front yard to decorate with lights at this time of year. I know that technically it is called an evergreen or spruce or something like that, but when you are little they are called Christmas trees. I am grateful to finally have one,... and especially grateful to be the one inside taking the pictures of all the work.
