Turkey Credits

Thursday Night

I feel the need to apologize for not writing sooner. I feel that saying I've been busy is a little lame. We have been spending a lot of our spare time renovating the basement suite with Harveyson. This was the first Thanksgiving in years that I didn't put on any weight. He rented a jackhammer to remove the concrete stairs in the front yard and I picked up about 2/3rds of it and hauled it out back in the wheelbarrow. I told him that I was earning "turkey credits", but mostly I was there for moral support. Sometimes you just need someone to acknowledge how hard you are working to make it better. Today Gido is over there putting on a first coat of mud in the bathroom. We are trying to get the bathroom done in the next week because the tenant is hoping to move in before the snow comes. It snowed on Sunday but it has cleared up pretty good already. I just hope that it stays decent until after Halloween, or better yet after Remembrance Day. I'll post the before and after pictures of the bathroom as soon as I get them. Ciao!

Took Max to the vet today. He had a bad night two days ago. We figured that it was probably gas. He ate too much for supper. I figured that it would be a good time for a check up because he was due for a new prednisone prescription as well, and he is still limping from what we thought was a broken toe. He is covered in lipomas, some a bit bigger than an egg. The other night when he was panting heavily from the gas, he sat beside us so we could rub his back and under the skin I could feel several new nodules that I thought were lymph nodes. I was afraid, but I need to know that I am being a good Mom, so off the the vet we went. I am very happy to say I have a very lumpy, fatty puppy with no superficial lymph node swelling! The toe probably isn't broken, it may be a tendon there, but it is not necessary to put him through any surgeries to repair it. A part of his eyes are starting to deteriorate. We just have to turn the lights on for him at night, especially on the stairs. His lungs are clear and his heart is strong and I'll pray that he stays that way for a long, long time.
